New Launch Victoria III

Victoria III Launch

The Port Phillip Sea Pilots have added a new fast launch to their fleet. The 13 meter Victoria III, has a 26 knot service speed, and is powered by a Cummins diesel engine, which PPSP managing Director, Charles Griffiths says are “used exclusively because their reliable service has been exceptional”. The hull was built at Chivers Marine in Western Australia and fitted out by the pilots at their Queenscliff workshop. It is possibly the last vessel the pilots will fit themselves as the state government has earmarked the workshop land for a marine development. As tradition dictates the vessel was Christened by the wife of a long serving employee. In this case Helen Beazley whose husband Geoff has worked for PPSP for more than 40 years.
